Holiday delights

Blink, shimmer, twinkle, shine.
How the traditional Christmas decor
links warm thoughts of family & friends
now with seasons gone by.

Strings of lights sparkle as homes
resemble candy cottages from exotic tales
starring children with not so
gentle lessons to scare kids straight.

Evergreen trees migrate indoors,
adorned with ornaments, lights, and
figurines of ballerinas, cartoons, & even
popcorn, all topped by a wondrous star.

Like a growing cache of treasures,
presents circle the tree base, causing a
spike in zeal for the season’s
advent of the Savior’s birthday tribute.

Although it may be a challenge
to recall when past gifts were received,
an afterglow lingers in hearts & spirits
of all of the people they delighted.

Surrounded by loved ones
during this blessed, magical season
abound with tasty food, drinks, & desserts,
enduring memories mark this time of year.
